ORGANIC ALMONDS
ORIGIN · CULTIVATION · HARVEST
- Originates from Spain and Italy.
- Warm regions with dry climate are preferred for the cultivation.
- The fruits grow on the almond trees.
- Harvest time is between August and September.
- The cracked almonds undergo a 2-7 days drying period before they are carefully selected.
QUALITY · NUTRITION
- Is available in different product forms (brown, blanched, sliced, slivered and flour).
- Crispy consistency with a light sweet aroma.
- High fat- and protein content as well as rich in minerals and vitamins.
- For baking, snack, for puree, suitable for sweet and hearty dishes.
OUR SUPPLIERS
- The supplier is located on the slopes of Etna (region in South Italy) and offers natural products, which are grown in untouched surroundings.
- Thanks to the climatic conditions of the country, it is possible to produce different almond types. We mainly buy the variety “Genco” and “Tuono” – the Tuono almond contains less oil and is very diverse in usage. It can be used for example for baking sweet bakery products.
- To guarantee a certified and high-quality product, the supplier regularly invests in new machines for the preparations of the almonds. With the help of innovative technologies, the production capacity can be increased and enables a fast and careful processing of the products.
- In Extremadura, Spain, there is almost no industry, so you can find one of the best air qualities in Europe. The climate here is also advantageous, as it is very cold in winter and very hot in summer, which allows very good harvests. The soils here are very good and there is enough water with more than 1500 km2 of inner coast.
DID YOU KNOW, THAT ...
- ...almonds have been already cultivated since 4000 years and are being mainly grown in the USA and in the Mediterranean region?
- ...in the Mediterranean region, the trees ripen in wine-growing regions, which have been probably introduced by the Romans?
- ...during the blossom time, the lower end of the branch shoots are being removed to reduce the amount of the bitter almonds?
- ...bitter almonds are almonds of the subspecies Prunus dulcis var. amara and is not suitable for raw consumption because of its high cyanide content?
